My Plan for President
As President, I’ll work from the ground-up to help establish the Liberal Democrats as the strong first and last line of defence against the tide of populism.
My plan is to:
Empower party members to win: working with ALDC and the Campaign Team to ensure every member has the tools they need to challenge populism.
Diversify our party: the party needs to better reflect the communities it is ambitious to serve. I will work with AOs and others to craft a strategy to drive greater diversity at all levels of the party.
Drive youth engagement: 16 and 17 year olds will be voting at the next General Election. Working with the Young Liberals, and with Scottish and Welsh colleagues I will spearhead the development of a youth engagement strategy.
Champion local government: The country needs to hear more about Liberal Democrat councillors’ successes across Britain. I will ensure the party shouts about its local government work and launch a pilot of a buddying scheme with some of the party’s council group leaders and parliamentarians.
Be a megaphone for members: I will use my platform and profile as an MP to reach new audiences with our bold ideas for society.

About me
I was born and bred in Eastbourne – the sunniest town in the UK! At 16, I joined the Liberal Democrats and have never looked back. Since then, I’m proud to have built a show-stopping team to beat the Tories locally – first as a councillor and now as our local MP.
Home wasn’t always safe when I was growing up, but with incredible support from across my community and family we were able to pull through. This is why protecting victims and survivors, in line with our liberal values, is particularly close to my heart as our party’s Justice Spokesperson.
I went on to spend my career first building what became an award-winning social enterprise supporting young people out of crime and gangs, and into employment.
Along the way, I stood for Parliament in East London (where I did a lot of my work with ex-offenders work) and vice-chaired the party’s Racial Diversity Campaign, whose mission is to find, train and support ethnic minority candidates at all levels.
I love our party and it’s an honour to stand to be our next President!
